Partnership

Active work in the direction of international cooperation gained further development. New funding was received for the ERASMUS+ project for 2023-2026 jointly with the University of Palermo (Italy) (project curator from KPI Prof. Sokolskyi G.V.), under which three masters and a post-graduate student of the department completed a scientific internship in 2023.

A new financing project was received within the framework of ERASMUS+ jointly with the University of Padua (Italy) for the period 2023-2026 (project supervisor Prof. O.E. Chygyrynets).

Physical Chemistry Department is known more than 120 years as a home of high level researches and prominent scientists. Nowadays, the department not only continues traditions of the past. It is also home for ambitious students that study chemical technology of cosmetics and food additives since 2013. New ambitions gave birth to new plans. Therefore, in 2018 the head of the department Olena Chyhyrynets and professor Georgii Sokolsky started collaboration with representative of the Turkish Chemical Society, Dr., professor Mustafa Culha. Thanks to his support, and support of the Turkish Chemical Society our department and faculty will organize very respectable international forum “EastWest Chemistry Conference”. EWCC2020 is an EuCheMS Recognized Conference. The details of this future event postponed to 2021 since pandemy of COVID-19 you can see here.

We hope that the difficulties we faced with will not stop our desire and plans to establish prolonged and stable collaboration with Turkish chemistry researchers. Follow this link to see details of the online event dedicated to the aforementioned plans. This autumn we will meet each other online to talk about collaboration opportunities of Ukraine — Turkey and chemistry scholars as well.

Our department specialists visited high-ranked Higher Educational Institutions. One of the recent examples is the visit of associated professor Mykola Ponomarev to University Leiden in Netherlands.

Very prospective were contacts with the research group of professor Giuseppe Lazzara, Palermo University (Sicily, Italy) in 2019. The mutual investigations have been started in the area of multifunctional composite materials based on hallousite nanotubes. The researches were supported by the new Erazmus+ programme in 2020. The plans to develop collaboration in the educational area with the Department of Chemistry and Physics of UNIPA are underway.

The next direction of efforts of our specialists was Spain. The visit to the Physical Chemistry and Applied Thermodynamics Department of Cordoba University in 2019 was fruitful for the exchange by experience and discussion of mutual investigations plans. Professor Georgii Sokolsky not only informed about directions of researches of his colleagues and his own, he also visited other departments of Faculty of Science and as a result, new collaborations were also started with professor Jose Tirado (Department of Inorganic Chemistry and Chemical Engineering), Dr. Juan Giner-Casares (Physical Chemistry and Applied Thermodynamics Department). Associate Professor Gustavo de Miguel with high-ranked researches focused on the synthesis and characterization of innovative hybrid perovskite materials for solar energy conversion accepted our invitation as a plenary speaker of EWCC2020.

It is worth to mention that the visit included not only academic and educational tasks. The brilliant impressions of the historical centre of Cordoba and Spain, local cuisine, conversations with many interesting people were the other side of Erasmus+ programme opportunities.

A postgraduate student of the Department of Physical Chemistry Yuliya Milyar has successfully performed researches in the framework of the Erasmus + program at the Universidad de Granada, Faculty of Sciences at the Institute of Chemistry Engineering. She is now at the completion stage of her PhD thesis and plans of thesis discussion in the near future.

Professor Mahammad Baba Babanly (Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, Azerbaijan, correspondent member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS, 2014)) is an example of scientific excellence. His investigations were published in many high-ranked journals including Nature.  Professor was a guest of our department in February, 2020. We invited him as a plenary lecturer of EWCC2020. The other collaboration plans were discussed.
